Jennifer Micacci

Candidate, Board of Education

Jennifer Micacci has been a resident of Southington for the past 17 years. She and her husband Vincent, a longtime Southington resident, decided Southington was the place to settle and raise a family. They have 3 children. Evelyn is fifteen years old and attends the Greater Hartford Academy for the Arts. Anthony is thirteen and is a freshman at Southington High. Their youngest, Angelina is a 7th grader at Kennedy Middle School.

Jennifer attended Central Connecticut State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. After developing an interest in deafness and hearing loss, she then attended Southern Connecticut State University for her master’s degree in Audiology. During an eight year hiatus from her audiology career while her children were very young, she had the opportunity to work as a childcare provider at the Southington Community YMCA. She especially enjoyed teaching the Kids in the Kitchen class. After she went back to work full time, she also went back to school. Taking online classes in the evenings, she worked to earn her doctorate in Audiology from A.T. Still University Arizona School of Health Sciences at the age of 44.

Currently, Jennifer is a Doctor of Audiology working at a private practice in Cheshire. She is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech Language Hearing Association. She is also an active member of the Connecticut Academy of Audiology where she serves as the Vice President for Educational Affairs.

Jennifer was a Girl Scout leader for 7 years and she is also an active school volunteer. She is a passionate believer that public education is the foundation of a civil society. If given the opportunity, she would be honored to serve all students of Southington by supporting quality teaching, using data to drive decision-making, and collaborating with school administrators and the community to promote high academic achievement for all students.
