Annie Wellington

Occupation: Annie is currently an Instructional Leader within Hartford Public Schools. Prior to this position, she has served as an English teacher, assistant principal, academic director, and director of education. Within these capacities, she gained extensive experience evaluating teachers, supervising programs, leading instruction, analyzing data, writing curriculum, revising policies, and building positive, constructive relationships with stakeholders.

Education is fundamental to promote a society of engaged citizens who can think critically and work cooperatively. Annie has dedicated her life to the service of educating others, and her foundation came from the Southington School system. As such, she wants to give back to the community that has helped shape her into the person she has become by using her talents and skills to prepare the students in the school system to be the future of Southington. As an educator with twenty years of experience in multiple capacities, Annie brings a unique perspective and skill set to the Board of Education. She believes students and teachers should be at the heart of every decision made in education. As a member of the Board, Annie plans to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to responsibly support the students of our community. The Southington School system deserves to be properly funded to provide teachers the essential resources for the educational process as they prepare our children to become part of the global community. Annie looks forward to working with members of the board, the district, and the community to best serve our students.

Volunteerism: Annie has dedicated her time to various organizations, including currently to the PTO at Oshana Elementary School; Scouts BSA with Cub Scout Pack 19 of Plantsville; and Scouts BSA Greenwich Council. She has also volunteered as a tutor for students in each school district she has worked in and has assisted with youth ministry activities within the Diocese of Bridgeport.
