Valerie DePaolo

Valerie-2023Town Council

Valerie DePaolo is currently serving her second term on the Town Council and is excited to be seeking a third term as part of TEAM SOUTHINGTON. Val recently retired from a successful law practice in which she was a partner for 19 years with the firm Sheffy, Mazzaccaro, DePaolo & DeNigris, LLP in downtown Southington.

“I am seeking reelection because I believe a change is needed at the Council level and we need to be moving down a path toward a more unified and inclusive community. We need to talk with residents to hear about their perspectives and vision for our town as it continues to grow. I will continue to listen to residents even if I have a different view on an issue and I will continue to advocate and be a voice for those that do not feel that they are being heard. Some of my priorities for the next term will be fair and affordable access to housing and transportation, promoting and supporting Southington Public Schools and delivering effective public safety solutions to make our community a safe place for all.”

Volunteerism:  Val is an officer of The DePaolo Family Foundation, a Volunteer Coordinator with the Southington Animal Control Facility, a board member of Southington Pride, a member of the SHS Business Advisory Committee, a member of the Southington Democratic Town Committee and a member of the Board of Trustees at First Congregational Church. Her past community volunteer activities include an officer and board member of the Main Street Community Foundation and served as a member of the Foundation’s Bradley Barnes Advisory Committee. She is a former board member of the Southington Library and Museum, the United Way Board of Directors, Board of Deacons and Stephen Ministry at First Congregational Church and a former member of the Southington Dementia Friendly Initiative action team.
