Congratulations to Mr. Brumback on his Retirement

The Southington Democratic Town Committee wishes to congratulate Mr. Brumback on his retirement.  With Mr. Brumback’s departure we have the opportunity to shape the administration of our Town.  We adamantly believe that the process of hiring a new town manager should be open to all, both in every candidate’s ability to apply and the public’s ability to review the tough decision of the council.  Regardless of past choices, we believe that the selection process must look into all qualified candidates and hire the Town Manager that is best …

An Open Letter to Representatives Sampson and Fusco

An Open Letter to Representatives Sampson and Fusco

Dear Representatives Sampson and Fusco,

As chairman of the Southington Democratic Town Committee, I speak for many of your constituents when I express great concern at two of your recent votes. First, you were two of just eight Republican representatives to vote against a bill — which has since become law — to ban the cruel and ineffective practice of anti-LGBTQ “conversion therapy,” despite wide bipartisan support and the support of the medical community. More recently, you joined many of your GOP colleagues in voting against …

Southington Democrats criticize Republican use of town seal in ‘official’ campaign ad

Southington Democrats criticize Republican use of town seal in ‘official’ campaign ad

A Republican election ad that includes the town seal and the word “official” is drawing criticism from Democrats.

The ad, headlined “2015 Official Town of Southington Election Guide,” was included in this week’s Southington Observer and listed Republican accomplishments and candidates. Republicans hold majorities on the Town Council and Board of Education.

Ed Rosenblatt, Democratic town chairman, said Republicans are trying to mislead residents with the title and the use of the seal. The guide contains a sample ballot that includes the name of Republican but not …

Many thanks to all who attended and supported the 2014 Chairman’s Dinner, Sep. 5, at Hawks Landing. We had a visit from Congressman John Larson who honored Bob Berkmoes, our Distinguished Democrat of the Year. We also heard from our candidates running for various local and state offices.

Thanks to everyone who worked hard to make this happen, including Jim Sinclair, Dave and Sue Zoni and Bob Berkmoes.
