What Happened on My Energy Bill?

What Happened on My Energy Bill?

If you saw an unwelcome rise in your electricity bill this month, I share your frustration and want to provide more information about the factors contributing to it.

While supply rates for electricity have dropped, the public benefits portion of the bill saw a sharp increase, and since supply and public benefits now make up nearly 60% of a total electricity bill, what does this mean for you and how did we get here?

Republican-led Millstone Deal
Supply rates and public benefits are extremely volatile and are not subject to control …

Thursday, August 17, 2023

At the August 14, 2023 Southington Town Council meeting, the Republican lead Town Council appointed one of their own to the high-level position of Deputy Town Manager, Alex Ricciardone.

“The fact that Mr. Dziedzic did not recuse himself from the dias when a vote was being made on his first cousin for one of the most important roles in our town government should be troublesome to the Southington residents and going down a road devoid of transparency.” said Erin …

Southington flag ordinance needs some work

Southington flag ordinance needs some work

An ordinance about what type of flags can and can’t be flown on town property in Southington was supposed to make things straightforward but instead is making things more complicated.

Take, for example, the upcoming Italian-American Festival. Italian flags have flown on lampposts as part of the celebration, but that is not going to happen any longer. So they were up, along Center Street, and then they were down, as the R-J reported. Down because of the ordinance passed in April.

The Italian-American Festival is as closely …

Thoughts on the proposed charter revision change

Thoughts on the proposed charter revision change

As I’ve listened to the discussion surrounding the charter changes to the Library board it is interesting how this has evolved since the charter was voted on to be opened after months of secrecy by the republicans on the Town Council.

If it was as simple as giving …
