Candidate, Board of Education
My wife Laura and I moved to Southington in 2001, and we have two children that have grown up in this town and gone through the Southington Public School system. Our son Paul is a sophomore at Southington High School, and our daughter Katie is in the seventh grade at John F. Kennedy Middle School.
I am a partner in the private equity firm Clipper Ship Ventures, which is based in Southington. I graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1994 with degrees in Finance and Political Science. I
worked at GE Capital for three years and then earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1999. I have worked in venture capital and entrepreneurial roles in the technology industry for the last 20 years, helping finance and manage dozens of companies that have collectively generated over one thousand jobs.
I have also been active as a volunteer with the Southington Youth Basketball Association. Any parent whose son or daughter played basketball in town over the last five years has probably received many
emails from me about game or practice scheduling. While my work with youth basketball has been very rewarding, I am ready for a new challenge with the Board of Education.
The most important role of any school system in the next decade is to prepare our children to succeed in a rapidly changing world. If I am elected to the Board of Education, I plan on leveraging my experience in technology, business and finance, along with bringing a different and fresh outsider’s perspective, to help make the Southington school system the best it can be.
