Chris is honored to seek re-election to the Town Council. He has always put the needs of residents first, and is proud of what he has accomplished. Chris is running for re-election because he feels there is still work that needs to be done, especially related to public safety, education, and fiscal responsibility. Chris is a true leader in our community, and he and Team Southington are ready to handle these issues. Chris currently serves on the Public Works Committee, Open Space Committee, Economic Strike Committee, and the Ordinance Review Committee. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Town Council and was elected to both the Southington Library Board of Directors and Southington’s Board of Water Commissioners.

Chris was appointed the Principal of DePaolo Middle School in June, 2019 and, prior to that, served as the Assistant Principal at DePaolo. Chris was named Connecticut’s Assistant Principal of the Year in 2013. Earlier in his career, he taught eighth grade science at Kennedy Middle School in Plantsville where he was actively involved. After leaving Kennedy, Chris continued his commitment to the students by creating a town-wide middle school drama program including students from both Kennedy and DePaolo. A lifelong Southington resident, Chris Palmeiri is dedicated to serving our community.

Volunteerism:
Chris is actively involved with Southington’s annual Apple Harvest Festival and previously served as the Chair of the festival committee for several years. He is a member of Southington Town-wide Effort to Promote Success (STEPS), and was president of the group for two years. He is the treasurer for Southington Community Theater. Chris is a member and former treasurer of the Southington High School Wall of Honor Committee, and a member of UNICO. He is an active volunteer for community activities, including events with Lewis Educational Agricultural Farm (LEAF), the Southington Education Foundation (SEF), the Community Services Department, and the Southington High School All Night Graduation Party. Chris also served as an usher at St. Aloysius Church for approximately 20 years. Chris has served as the Vice Chair of the Public Building Committee for Kennedy and DePaolo Middle Schools.

Education:
Chris received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a double major in marketing and management from the University of Rhode Island. He earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Sacred Heart University and a Sixth Year Professional Certificate in School Administration from Sacred Heart University.
